Charlie celebrates double victory at Donington Park

With the summer break behind him, Charlie Butler-Henderson returned to the race track this weekend (19th-20th September), for the next instalment of his MINI Challenge UK Series campaign. With Donington Park the scene of the action once again, Charlie was hopeful of repeating his early season race winning performance, and he wasn’t disappointed.

As he took to the Grand Prix circuit on Saturday (19th September), Charlie was immediately on the pace, as he stormed his way to a pole position start for race one.

Untouchable in the first race of the weekend, Charlie managed to secure himself a lights to flag style domination, when his pole position advantage soon led to a race victory.

A reversal of the top four for race two meant Charlie lined up in fourth place, giving him more of a challenge this time around. Determined as ever, a strong start saw Charlie immediately latch onto the tail of the top three, and as the quartet lapped the Craner Curves, Charlie managed an impressive manoeuvre around the outside to collect third place.

Before long, second place was in his sights, when another overtaking opportunity presented itself into the Fogarty Esses. With a clean manoeuvre under his belt he was soon in second place and speeding after the leader, Lee Pattison.

As he chased the leader, keen to claim the position for himself, Charlie soon spied his chance, with a pass down the inside of Redgate (turn one). Once in control, Charlie stormed to his second triumphant finish of the weekend.

“It has been a fantastic weekend, we couldn’t have asked for more,” said Charlie. “The car has performed perfectly all season and we were able to show our best once again. We won here earlier in the season and it was great to repeat that again this weekend. A big thank you to the whole Oakfield Motorsport team and our sponsors.”
