Oakfield Motorsport headed to Rockingham on Thursday for the next round of Power Maxed Mini Challenge, however this would only be for the cooper class which Oakfield look after 1 driver Darren Chatt.

Friday testing started extremely well with good pace in the car, Engineer and driver coach Bill Sollis spent time in the car ensuring set up was good. Session 2 was unfortunately brought short after a very late unnecessary lunge into Chatty. The hit was hard, and resulted in the chassis and side seal being totalled. Team Oakfield worked quickly and although could not get the damage out managed to get the car to a safe state ready for 2 more sessions that afternoon testing the set up, with more time that evening spend on the car the team and driver was happy to be ready for Qualifying.

Chatty completed qualifying, just missing out on a top 10 finish, qualified P11 with a time of 1.41.332. Race 1 Saturday afternoon saw chatty finish P7 making up some very important spaces and collecting some vital championship points. Sunday morning come, and after some further changes to the car overnight, Chatty drove a flawless race bringing the car home in his best finish yet P5. Race 3 saw Chatty have an amazing start, jumping up to P3, however with some more experience drivers behind him it was not long before he was forced into an error and out braked himself into turn 2, and had to join at the back of the pack, with two flat spotted tyres Chatty brought the car home P12.

Considering the car should have been straight back on the lorry Friday, what a weekend great work by the team and driver collecting some really important championship points, the car needs a re shell, and a new donor car is already in the workshop, and will be ready for the next round at Silverstone on the 13 – 14 June.
